Rajouri, Jan 18: In the wake of public outcry and wide criticism that no minister has visited Badhaal village to console the bereaved families who have lost 16 precious lives since December 7 due to unidentified disease, on Saturday Deputy Chief Minister and Member Parliament Rajouri-Anantnag, visited the village and extended government’s every possible support to people of the area. It was the first visit by any minister or MP to the village Badhaal since December 7 when the first two deaths of the father-daughter duo were reported.
Local MLA Javed Iqbal is continuously providing every possible support to affected families whether it is financial or visits to hospitals at Rajouri and Jammu.
Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary met with the bereaved families & offered his condolences and listened to their plights. He assured them of the government’s commitment to addressing the situation during this difficult time.
“The government is fully committed to resolving this alarming situation, and all necessary steps are being taken,” said Surinder Choudhary.
He also informed that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the police is probing the cause behind these unfortunate deaths.
“The Chief Minister is personally monitoring the situation, and all efforts are being made to ascertain whether these deaths were due to natural causes or any other reason,” he said.
He added that investigations by the police and health department are underway to determine the cause of these mysterious deaths.
“We are ensuring that the treatment of affected patients is being carried out at the highest level,” said Deputy CM.
Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, MLA Budhal, Javed Iqbal Choudhary, ADDC Rajouri, Dr Raj Kumar Thapa and all district officers accompanied the Deputy CM during his visit to Badhaal village.
Earlier Cabinet Ministers Sakeena Itoo and Javed Rana had visited Koteranka but couldn’t come to Badhaal due to prevailing sensitive health issues in the area.
Meanwhile, in the morning member parliament (Lok Sabha) from the Anantnag-Rajouri parliamentary constituency, Mian Altaf Ahmed visited the affected area Badhaal and met with Mohd Aslam and members of other victims’ families.
He expressed his condolences, extended solidarity with them, and assured of a thorough investigation into deaths due to unidentified disease.
