Alleged Corporal Punishment: Teacher Suspended in Rajouri

Rajouri, September 16: A teacher posted at High School Kundal in Rajouri district has been suspended following the circulation of a video on social media in which he was allegedly seen subjecting students to corporal punishment.
The suspended teacher has been identified as Nisar Ahmed. According to an order issued by Chief Education Officer Rajouri Hafiz Sheikh, the action was taken pending an inquiry into his conduct and in view of the need for a detailed investigation into the matter.
The order stated that a video clip circulated on social media purportedly showed the teacher allegedly administering physical punishment to students.
Taking serious note of the matter, the Education Department placed Nisar Ahmed under suspension with immediate effect pending a detailed inquiry.
As per the order, during the period of suspension, Nisar Ahmed will remain attached to Middle School Chakli in Zone Khawas. He has been directed not to leave the station of attachment without prior permission of the competent authority.
The order further stated that the suspended teacher would be entitled to subsistence allowance as admissible under the rules during the suspension period.
The video, which reportedly features schoolchildren, including girls, contains allegations that the teacher subjected them to physical punishment. Some children were also seen showing marks allegedly caused by the beating. The video has reportedly triggered anger among residents and parents, who have demanded strict action.
The allegations are subject to the outcome of the departmental inquiry.
