Forum for Awareness of National Security (FANS), Jammu Chapter Commemorates Kargil Shaheed Diwas
Jammu, 26 July: The Forum for Awareness of National Security (FANS), Jammu Chapter solemnly commemorated Kargil Shaheed Diwas at the Forest Information Centre, Jammu, paying heartfelt tributes to the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in defence of the nation during the Kargil War.
The programme was graced by the families of the martyrs (Balidani Parivar) as the Chief Guests, while Ms Devyani Rana, MLA Nagrota, attended the event as the Guest of Honour.
A large number of citizens, ex-servicemen, social workers, and members of FANS gathered to remember the unparalleled courage and patriotism of India’s bravehearts. The martyr families were honoured with trophies and traditional shawls as a mark of respect and gratitude for the immeasurable sacrifice made by their loved ones for Mother India. The gathering acknowledged that the supreme sacrifice of the nation’s heroes will forever remain etched in the hearts of every Indian.
The event also witnessed the presence of several distinguished personalities including Deepak Panday, Rajesh Gupta, Maj Gen R.K. Sharma, and Farooq Khan, former LG of Lakshadweep Island, who joined in paying homage to the martyrs. The Balidani Parivar members Sharda Bhau, Kavinder Kour, and Kamla Devi were specially honoured during the programme.
A meaningful discussion on Sindhu Ghatti Sbyata was also held, highlighting India’s rich civilisational heritage. A short film on the Kargil War, veterans, and martyr families was screened, evoking deep emotions and patriotic fervour among the audience. Children from Ved Ashram presented a powerful message on the nation and also displayed an insightful exhibition showcasing themes of patriotism and cultural values. In addition, youth social media influencers actively participated in the programme, contributing to the outreach of national awareness among the younger generation.
The event was successfully coordinated under the active leadership of Mr Vikkramaditya Singh, Sangathan Mantri, FANS, along with the office bearers and members of the FANS Jammu Chapter, whose dedicated efforts ensured the successful organisation of the programme.
Among the prominent organisers present were Dr Sonia Verma, General Secretary, Reeta Verma Vice President and Kamla Devi and Adv. Rajinder Singh, Adv. Uma, and several other members of the organisation, all of whom played an active role in making the event meaningful and memorable.
A series of eminent speakers addressed the gathering, highlighting the unmatched valour, patriotism, and dedication of the armed forces. They paid rich tributes to the martyrs and emphasised the importance of preserving the legacy of those who laid down their lives to safeguard the sovereignty and integrity of the nation.
The programme concluded with a collective pledge to uphold the ideals of patriotism, national unity, and unwavering respect for the Armed Forces, followed by the National Anthem.
