Wholesale Medical Agency sealed: 1100 tablets recovered without proper record

Rajouri, June 11: Under its ongoing crusade against drug smuggling,& drug abuse, district Rajouri police on Saturday sealed a Wholesale Medical Agency in Rajouri city in the presence of a drug inspector after the police recovered 110 strips of medicinal drugs without any proper record from the possession of two owner siblings.
The sealed wholesale medical agency dealing with the sale of medicinal drugs is being run by two siblings namely Zafer Iqbal and his brother Mohammad Rafi sons of Abdul Rashid, residents of ward 6, is situated near Sailani Bridge.
The police team, headed by Deputy SP HQ, Muddasit Hussain and SHO, Mohd Showket Chowdhary along with Drugs Inspector, Mohammad Shakoor raided a Wholesale Medical agency, namely Brothers Agency in the evening hours on Saturday after specific inputs & recovered 110 strips (1100 tablets) of Tapendadol drug having no required details about its purchase & sale of drug that raised the suspicion of use of these tablets in drugabuse.
“Taking note of it, the medical agency has been sealed as per law of land & both the siblings have been detained for further investigation in this matter,”
The complex has been sealed while further legal proceedings have been taken up by police in association with the Drug Inspector, police added.
Sources said that on the disclosure of a few detained drug peddlers, this Wholesale Medical Agency was under surveillance of the police & Drug Inspector for selling Tapendadol tablets for drug abuse without any proper record of purchase & sale.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajouri, Amritpal Singh said that “War against drugs is among the top most priorities of Jammu and Kashmir police with strict action against those involved in luring youth in addiction is being taken,” said SSP, Amritpal Singh.
While mentioning a series of raids, inspections conducted in the district in the recent past, and the arrest of the accused, SSP said that the action will remain to continue.
