Two Snatchers Arrested, Stolen Split ACs Worth 2 Lakh Recovered by Janipur Police, Jammu

Jammu, August 8, 2025: In a swift and efficient operation, Janipur Police Station has arrested two individuals involved in the snatching of four split air conditioners worth approximately ?2 lakh. The recovery of the stolen items and arrest of the accused has been widely appreciated by the local community.
The action was initiated following a written complaint by Karamjeet Singh, son of Shanker Singh, resident of Sanjay Nagar, Jammu. The complainant reported that on August 5, 2025, he received a phone call from an unknown mobile number inquiring about the purchase of four split AC units. Trusting the caller, he arranged for the ACs to be delivered via an auto-rickshaw to the specified location.
Upon reaching the destination, the accused individuals forcibly transferred the AC units from the auto into their own vehicle and fled from the scene.
Acting promptly, Janipur Police registered FIR No. 124/2025 under Section 304 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and formed a dedicated investigation team. Utilizing both technical surveillance and human intelligence, the police team succeeded in identifying and apprehending the accused within hours.
The arrested persons have been identified as:
Ajay Kumar, son of Sham Lal, resident of New Plot, Jammu
Ankush Kumar, son of Amit Lal, resident of Rehari Colony, Jammu
All four stolen AC units were recovered during the operation. Additionally, the auto-rickshaw and scooty used in the commission of the crime were seized.
Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
