Jammu, Aug 08: As part of the Vikshit Bharat Yuva Connect program, Government College of Education (GCOE) Canal road, Jammu organized two significant events: an inter-college essay writing competition and the IEC Campaign Against Drugs under the NCORD Committee of the college.
The events started with the welcome note by Dr. Ambica Kumari. The chief Guest of the Event was Dr. Jyoti Parihar, Principal of GCOE Jammu, as the Chief Guest, and Mr. Daljeet Singh Manhas, Dean of Student Welfare, Cluster University of Jammu, was the Guest of Honour.
The inter-college essay writing competition saw participation from students across various colleges, showcasing their writing skills and perspectives on themes relevant to national development. The judges for the competition were Prof. Satish Sharma from GCOE Jammu and Dr. Ritu Magotra from GCW Parade, who evaluated the essays based on creativity, content, and coherence. Haniska Sharma from GGM Science College emerged as the winner while Priyanshi Kathial from School of Sciences and Areebah Khan from PSPS Government College for Women, Gandhinagar secured second and third position respectively.
In a parallel initiative, the IEC Campaign Against Drugs was organized to raise awareness about the dangers of substance abuse and promote a healthy lifestyle among youth. The resource persons for this event were Dr. Nusrat Chouhan (MO), Mr. Kewal Krishan (SI), and Ms. Shifali Gupta (Sr. Lecturer) who shared valuable insights and expertise on the subject. Other notable attendees included Prof. Ramzan Ali, NCORD Convener, Dr. Zuber Kalis, Dean school of Tr. Edu., Madam Shafia, Prof. Sunanda Rani, Dr. Rajinder Kour, Dr. Rakesh Bharti and other faculty members. Prof. Deepali Kundal delivers the vote of thanks. The event was coordinated by Dr. Shubhra Jamwal , NSS Team and NCORD committee.
Both events concluded on a note of commitment and determination, with participants and attendees pledging to contribute towards a developed and drug-free India. GCOE Jammu looks forward to hosting more such initiatives that foster academic excellence and social awareness.
