Tree Plantation Drive Held Under Leadership of MLA Mohan Lal; Emphasis on Environmental Responsibility

Akhnoor, July 16: A large-scale tree plantation campaign was organized today by the Forest Department in Akhnoor, aimed at promoting ecological balance and public awareness towards environmental conservation. The event was spearheaded by Akhnoor’s MLA Mohan Lal, who inaugurated the drive by planting saplings at the sacred Kameshwar Temple and Government Higher Secondary School, Akhnoor.
In his detailed and inspiring address, MLA Mohan Lal said, “Today’s event is not just about planting trees, but about nurturing our responsibility and vision for the future generations. Climate change, deforestation, and pollution are alarming global issues, and every individual must play a role in mitigating them. Planting a tree is the simplest yet most impactful step toward a greener tomorrow.”
He further emphasized, “Trees don’t just provide oxygen; they conserve soil, regulate rainfall, and sustain biodiversity. I especially appeal to the youth to turn tree plantation into a people’s movement in their localities, villages, and schools. If each of us pledges to plant and protect even one tree, we will collectively build a better, greener, and safer future.”
Saplings of Amla, Drumstick (Sohanjna), Bael Patra, Arjun, and Sukhchain were planted during the campaign.
The event witnessed the presence of several notable dignitaries, including DGP Jammu and Kashmir Nalin Prabhat, Mahamandaleshwar Mahant Rameshwar Das, Kalidhar Range Officer Vijay Khosla, Principal Musarrat Jabeen, BJP District President Kuldeep Sharma, former BDC Sushma, Deepesh Singh, Rakesh Malhotra, former Sarpanchs Kishori Sharma, Ashwani Sharma, Gullu Ram, Shamsher Das, Savita Singh, Reena Devi, Suman Singh, Captain Tulsi Sharma, Vinay Sapolia, Jagdish Bakshi, Shakti Kumar, Sai Das, Babu Ram, Ayush Singh, among many other community leaders and social workers.
