Rajouri, June 10: In the Jawahar Nagar area of Rajouri, a loud explosion followed by a fire broke out in a solar panel installed under the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Scheme on the rooftop of a resident’s house.
The affected individual, Sanjeev Kumar, son of Yashpal and resident of Ward No. 6, Jawahar Nagar, stated that he had installed a Luminous brand solar panel on the rooftop of his three-story house around two months ago to ensure better electricity supply.
However, within just two months, the panel exploded and caught fire.
The incident resulted in extensive damage to the top floor of his house, where clothes and other household furniture were stored.
The fire department was immediately informed, and fire and emergency personnel reached the spot in time to bring the fire under control, preventing it from spreading to nearby houses.
Sanjeev further shared that if not for the prompt and strenuous efforts of the neighbours and firefighters, the fire could have engulfed many nearby houses.
He estimated his loss to be over ?4 lakh, including the destroyed solar panel and other valuable household items.
Meanwhile, the police have also taken cognizance of the incident.
