Rajouri, May 28: The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Rajouri chaired a meeting on Wednesday at his office complex under the Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK) to review the progress of ongoing interventions and to plan future strategies for enhancing adolescent health services in the district.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the District Program Management (DPM) Unit and RKSK counsellors.
During the session, CMO Dr. M.L. Rana reviewed key RKSK indicators, including Adolescent Friendly Health Clinics (AFHCs), Weekly Iron and Folic Acid Supplementation (WIFS), the Menstrual Hygiene Scheme (MHS), and the Peer Education Programme.
Performance across all RKSK blocks was discussed in detail, with a focus on strengthening outreach activities and improving reporting mechanisms.
Dr. Rana emphasized the need to observe special Adolescent Health Days regularly in all blocks to raise awareness on mental health, nutrition, reproductive health, substance abuse prevention, and gender-based issues.
To ensure the holistic development of the adolescent population, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare launched the Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK) on January 7, 2014. The program aims to reach out to 253 million adolescents – male and female, rural and urban, married and unmarried, in-school and out-of-school – with a special focus on marginalized and underserved groups.
