Rajouri, March 11: According to reports, two labourers received critical injuries on Tuesday morning when they were buried under heavy debris inside an under-construction tunnel on Jammu-Poonch National Highway 144 A at Bhatadhurian in Poonch district.
The much-anticipated work on the 1.1-kilometer tunnel, part of the Akhnoor-to-Poonch road-widening project managed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), had commenced at Bhatadhurian under Package-7 on March 3, covering the stretch from Kalali (in Rajouri district) to Bhatadhurian (in Poonch).
The injured have been identified as Vikram Singh son of Prem Singh, and Tazeem Hussain son of Ghulam Hussain, resident of Sangaldan, both residents of Ramban district.
The injured labourers were evacuated to Subdistrict hospital at Surankote and after preliminary treatment referred to Associated Hospital Government Medical College (AH GMC) Rajouri for specialized treatment.
