Ongoing Anti-Drug Operation: Nowshera police seize 504 gms of heroin and Rs. 5.14 lakh cash

Rajouri, February 19: As part of an ongoing investigation into a drug trafficking case registered at Nowshera police station under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act (FIR No. 178/2024), Nowshera police recovered 504 grams of heroin-like substance and ?5.14 lakh in cash during a search operation on Wednesday at the residence of the main accused and kingpin in Lamberi. According to a communiqué from the District Police Office, a team led by SHO Inspector Arjun Magotra conducted the search at the house of the accused, Jaswinder Kumar, alias Sonu, son of late Karam Chand, a resident of Lamberi village. The seizure included ?5.14 lakh in cash and 504 grams of heroin-like substance.
The total recovery in this case so far amounts to 11.804 kilograms of heroin-like substance and cash worth ?5.14 lakh. It is noteworthy that on December 16 last year, police arrested Sajan Kumar, alias Vicky, son of Om Parkash, and Subash Chander, son of Pishori Lal (both residents of Nowshera), with 5.3 kilograms of heroin-like substance. They were booked under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act (FIR No. 178/2024) at Nowshera police station. During sustained interrogation, Sajan and Subash revealed the name of the prime accused and kingpin, Jaswinder Kumar, alias Sonu, who was subsequently arrested by the police on February 5, 2025. During questioning, Jaswinder admitted to receiving heroin consignments smuggled from across the LoC by a PoJK-based narco operative. He named his associates, Ashok Kumar, son of Roop Lal, and Sanjay Kumar, son of Jia Lal, both residents of the forward village Sair in the Bhawani sector. Both were arrested by the police.

Upon interrogation, Ashok and Sanjay disclosed that they were in possession of a smuggled heroin consignment consisting of 12 packets weighing 6 kg. This consignment was seized by Nowshera police on February 14.

The entire operation was conducted under the overall supervision of SSP Rajouri, Gaurav Sikarwar (IPS), and Additional SP Nowshera.
