Rajouri, February 17: After assuming the additional charge of Registrar at Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma held an introductory meeting on Monday, marking the start of his tenure in this new role.
Abhishek Sharma is the first IAS officer to take on the additional charge of Registrar at BGSBU.
During a late-night inspection of the university’s residential hostels, Sharma assessed student facilities, security arrangements, and overall living conditions. He identified lapses in duty and took firm action, issuing a warning to one of the hostel wardens for future accountability.
Earlier in the day, the DC conducted a comprehensive review of the university’s administrative functioning and evaluated the progress of ongoing major initiatives. He also visited various academic and administrative departments, engaging with faculty and staff to understand challenges and areas needing improvement.
Sharma emphasized the importance of efficient governance and student welfare, directing the university administration to maintain a transparent, student-friendly environment and expedite pending developmental projects.
The visit was attended by officers, faculty members, and administrative staff of BGSBU.
