5 soldiers attained martyrdom in accident while on Operational Duty in Poonch

Rajouri, Dec 24: In a tragic road mishap along Line of Control (LoC) in Balnoi area of Mendhar sector in Poonch district, 5 soldiers have attained martyrdom while others five were evacuated to Field Hospital in Poonch.
Pro & Spokesperson, Ministry of Defence (Jammu) has ruled out the army vehicles’ accident as a terrorist-initiated incident.
He said: “2.5 Ton vehicle (met with accident) was a part of a convoy of six vehicles while plying on the Operational Track near Poonch on our own side of LoC Fence and was approximately 130 m away from our post and the back-up vehicle was just 40 m away,”.
The cause of the accident is being ascertained. Possibly the driver lost control at the turn of the road, he added.
The accident took place at about 5.20 pm on Tuesday (December 24).
White Knight Corps post on social media platform X read: “All ranks of White Knight Corps extend their deepest condolences to the tragic loss of 5 brave soldiers in a vehicle accident during operational duty in the Poonch sector,”.
“Rescue operations are going on, and the injured personnel are receiving medical care” X post.
Sources said that the ill-fated 2 Ton vehicle was on its way to forward Ghora post from HQ when the driver lost control on a sharp curve near the post, and it rolled down about 150 meters deep in a gorge resulting in critical injuries to all the soldiers.
