Bishnah police arrest two drug peddlers, seize Heroin-like substance and firearm

In a major breakthrough in the ongoing war against narcotics and illegal activities, the Bishnah Police have successfully apprehended two notorious drug peddlers, Jaswinder Singh and Jarnial Singh, and recovered a significant haul of contraband. The police also seized a firearm during the operation.

Acting on specific intelligence, a police team from PS Bishnah, under the leadership of the 1st Class Executive Magistrate, laid a strategic checkpoint at Palli Bishnah. The operation was based on credible information about two individuals involved in the illegal trade of narcotics. The suspects were identified as Jaswinder Singh, son of Kulbir Singh, and Jarnial Singh, son of Harpal Singh, both residents of Ward No. 02, Bhour Camp Chatha.

The police intercepted the suspects’ vehicle, a JK02BN-0205 registered vehicle, as it was traveling from Raya Morh towards Miran Sahib Ring Road. Upon searching the vehicle, police recovered 265 grams of a heroin-like substance, along with one pistol and two live cartridges. The discovery highlights the growing concern of drug trafficking and illegal firearms in the region. A case, FIR No. 209/2024, has been registered under various sections of the NDPS Act (8/21/22/29/60) and 3/25/A Act for the possession of firearms. Further investigation has begun to uncover the full extent of the criminal network involved.

A history of criminal activity: The two accused individuals are no strangers to law enforcement. Both Jaswinder Singh and Jarnial Singh are habitual criminals, with extensive records of involvement in various criminal activities. Their criminal histories indicate a long-standing pattern of illegal behavior, particularly related to thefts, robberies, and narcotics trafficking. Both are known history-sheeters at PS Satwari.

Details of Previous Cases are as: Jaswinder Singh, son of Kulbir Singh, resident of Bhour Camp Chatha involved in six FIRs 1) FIR No. 165/2006 under Sections 457/380 RPC (Burglary & Theft) – PS Satwari; 2) FIR No. 11/2007 under Sections 457/380 RPC – PS Satwari; 3) FIR No. 42/2007 under Sections 457/380 RPC – PS Satwari; 4) FIR No. 159/2007 under Sections 457/380 RPC – PS Satwari; 5) FIR No. 68/2007 under Sections 457/380 RPC – PS Gandhi Nagar; and 6) FIR No. 233/2007 under Sections 457/380 RPC – PS Gandhi Nagar.

Whereas, Jarnial Singh, son of Harpal Singh, resident of Bhour Camp Chatha involved in two are as 1) FIR No. 30/2009 under Sections 382/201/34 RPC (Robbery & Mischief) – PS Gandhi Nagar; and 2) FIR No. 47/2009 under Section 382 RPC (Robbery) – PS Gandhi Nagar.

This operation, led by the SHO Bishnah Police Station, marks a major achievement in the ongoing battle against drug trafficking and the possession of illegal weapons. The police’s swift action and coordination with local authorities have dealt a significant blow to the illegal narcotics trade in the region. The recovery of both heroin-like substances and firearms underscores the dangerous nexus between drug smuggling and illegal weapon possession, posing a serious threat to public safety.
