Police arrest bootlegger, recover huge quantity of Illicit Liquor from Bishnah

Jammu, Nov 15: In a significant crackdown on the illegal liquor trade, Jammu Police have arrested a bootlegger and seized a large quantity of illicit liquor in the Bishnah area. This operation is part of an intensified drive to curb the sale and distribution of illegal alcohol, launched under the direct instructions of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Joginder Singh (JKPS).
A dedicated police team from Police Station Bishnah, led by Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Sushil Choudhary, with oversight from Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) RS Pura, Nikhil Gogna, and Superintendent of Police Headquarters, carried out the operation. The team apprehended Deepak Singh, son of Garh Singh, a resident of Sarore, Bishnah, Jammu.
During the operation, the police recovered a staggering 330 bottles of JK Desi Whisky (180 ml each) and 24 bottles of Beer (500 ml each) from Singh’s possession. The total haul is believed to have a significant monetary value and poses a severe threat to public health and safety, given the dangers of consuming unregulated, illicit alcohol.
In connection with the arrest, a First Information Report (FIR) under Section 48(a) of the Excise Act has been filed at Police Station Bishnah. Police are currently investigating the case, and further details are expected as the probe progresses.
This operation marks the fifth FIR registered against bootleggers in the Bishnah area in recent weeks. The continued success of these operations has been widely appreciated by the local community, which has expressed overwhelming support for the police’s efforts to crack down on the illegal liquor trade.
