Jammu, Nov 07: In a groundbreaking operation, Jammu police have successfully apprehended a police constable posted with Crime Branch, Parwaiz Khan, along with his two wives, for their involvement in a drug trafficking ring.

The operation unfolded Thursday when law enforcement officials executed a search warrant at Khan’s residence in Gujjar Mohalla, Janipur. The raid yielded an astonishing recovery of approximately 33 grams of heroin, commonly known as “Chitaa,” alongside 22 mobile phones, a weighing scale, Rs 25,640 in cash, foil papers, and various other materials used in the preparation and distribution of narcotics. These items were reportedly intended for producing small doses of heroin for sale to unsuspecting youths in the region, highlighting the pervasive threat of drug abuse in the community.
Khan’s wives, Nargis Bhat and Parveen Akhtar, were also arrested during the raid. Police reports indicate that both women played active roles in the drug operation, assisting in the packaging and distribution of heroin to local clientele. Their involvement has raised significant concerns about the reach of drug trafficking networks and their impact on local communities.
Following the arrests, police have registered a case under FIR No. 128/2024, invoking sections 8, 21, 22, 29, and 27A of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The investigation is currently ongoing, with authorities working diligently to uncover the full extent of the operation and its connections.
In response to the serious allegations, Constable Khan has been suspended from duty pending the outcome of the investigation. Furthermore, the Janipur police are conducting a thorough financial inquiry into Khan’s assets, as he is suspected of acquiring multiple properties, including two houses in Janipur, through illicit means. Authorities are also taking steps to attach these properties, which are believed to be the proceeds of narcotics trafficking.
