Div Com Jammu takes action against corruption, suspend Patwari and Naib Tehsildar
The Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar is determined to eradicate the corruption from Jammu, besides sent a message to other corrupt revenue officers for strict action.
Jammu, Jul 31:
In a decisive move underscoring the enduring principle that “the truth always prevails,” Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, has taken significant action against corruption within the administrative ranks. The latest development in this ongoing anti-corruption campaign involves the suspension of two officials, Patwari Parnav Dev Singh and Naib Tehsildar Akeel Ahmed, who have been implicated in serious corruption cases.
According to a formal notice issued by the Divisional Commissioner’s office, Parnav Dev Singh, a Patwari previously posted in the Assarwan Patwar area of Tehsil Bhalwal, has been suspended due to his extensive involvement in corrupt practices. Singh, whose tenure spanned from 2017 to 2019, is accused of having played a pivotal role in various illegal activities, including Jhad fard that have significantly impacted the state exchequer. His alleged misdeeds include fake mutation, frauds in land record, embezzlement and aiding land grabbers, actions which have reportedly resulted in substantial financial losses to the state.
The suspension order, documented in office letter No DIVCOMJMU (ESTT) 18 of 2024, dated July 27, 2024, also addresses the suspension of Naib Tehsildar Akeel Ahmed. Ahmed is implicated in multiple cases of land scams, further highlighting the systemic issues plaguing land administration in the region. His involvement in these scams has been a significant concern, as it reflects a broader issue of corruption within administrative procedures.
These suspensions come in response to a series of investigative reports by Jammu Jottings, which have extensively covered the corrupt activities of Patwari Parnav Dev Singh. The publication’s exposure of these practices has brought to light the extent of corruption that has marred the administrative processes and contributed to the financial detriment of the state.
The Jammu Jottings, which has been at the forefront of reporting on these issues, played a crucial role in uncovering the depth of corruption. Their diligent reporting has not only highlighted individual cases of malfeasance but also exposed systemic issues that need addressing.
The suspension of Singh and Ahmed is expected to be followed by further investigations and possible legal actions, aimed at not only addressing the immediate concerns but also implementing reforms to prevent such occurrences in the future. This move is a significant step in the ongoing battle against corruption, reinforcing the message that transparency and accountability remain central to effective governance.
As the administrative and legal processes unfold, stakeholders and citizens alike will be watching closely to see how these actions impact the broader efforts to combat corruption and restore integrity within the Jammu administration.
