Jammu, April 19: In a resounding victory against the pervasive drug trade plaguing the region, Jammu District Police, under the unwavering guidance of SSP Jammu Vinod Kumar, IPS, and the determined leadership of SDPO Akhnoor Mohan Sharma, have executed a significant operation, seizing property worth lakhs belonging to a notorious drug peddler in Akhnoor.
This operation serves as a testament to the Jammu District Police’s unwavering commitment to eradicating the drug menace from our communities and ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens. The seizure sends a strong message to drug traffickers that their illegal activities will not be tolerated and that they will face severe consequences for their actions.
The operation focused on Anil Singh, alias Furtila, son of Madan Singh, a resident of Hamirpur, Khour, currently residing in Kodewala, Akhnoor. Anil Singh, a notorious figure in the drug trade, has a history riddled with criminal activities, particularly those related to drug peddling. He is currently detained under the PITNDPS Act and lodged in district jail Jammu, awaiting legal proceedings.
Anil Singh’s criminal record paints a stark picture of his involvement in various offenses, including: FIR No. 152/2011 u/s 302/109/307/147/148 RPC (PS Akhnoor), FIR No. 191/2014 u/s 351/323/34 RPC (PS Akhnoor), FIR No. 74/2017 u/s 307/382/341/323 RPC & 4/25IAA (PS Akhnoor), FIR No. 248/2021 u/s 8/21/29 NDPS Act (PS Akhnoor), FIR No. 180/2023 u/s 8/21/22 NDPS Act (PS Katra).
Akhnoor police, under the direct supervision of SDPO Mohan Sharma, conducted a thorough investigation into Anil Singh’s illegal activities. Collaborating with the transport department, the police meticulously traced the origins of his assets and identified a Thar vehicle as property acquired through illicit drug trafficking. Acting decisively under the provisions of sections 68 A 2 (C), & E read with 68-F of the NDPS Act of 1985, the police swiftly seized the vehicle, effectively disrupting Anil Singh’s operations and delivering a significant blow to the drug trade in the region.
