Jammu, March 15: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Nagrota police, under the leadership of Superintendent of Police (SP) Rural Brijesh Kumar and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Aakash Kohli, and overall supervision of SSP Jammu Dr Vinod Kumar, seized heroin worth approximately ? half crore (50 Lakh). The operation, conducted during the intervening night of 14th and 15th March 2024, resulted in the apprehension of two notorious drug peddlers.
Led by 1st In-Charge of Police Post Sidhra, PSI Arun Sharma, the police team, under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Dy. SP Aakash Kohli and SHO Nagrota Insp Rajeshwar Singh, was conducting a checkpoint duty at Batra Chowk on National Highway when they intercepted two individuals attempting to flee upon sighting the police presence. Swift action by the alert officials led to the arrest of the suspects, identified as Bagh Hussain and Mohd Mansha.
Upon thorough interrogation, Bagh Hussain, hailing from Kulah Kallan R.S.Pura, and Mohd Mansha from Biaspur Parlah R.S. Pura, were found in possession of 500 grams of heroin-like substance collectively, valued at around ? half crore. Subsequently, a case FIR No. 88/2024 under the NDPS Act was registered at P/S Nagrota, and investigations are underway to dismantle the entire drug network.
This successful operation underscores the relentless efforts of the Jammu Police, spearheaded by SP Rural Brijesh Sharma, to combat drug abuse in the region. Earlier instances, such as the apprehension of Rohit Dutta in Akhnoor, further emphasize the department’s commitment to cracking down on drug peddlers and seizing their assets as a deterrent measure.
