Udhampur, February 29: Cracking down on violators of Pollution norms, District Magistrate (DM) Udhampur, Saloni Rai has been taking strong actions against the culprits resulting in closure of three Banquet Halls yesterday and three Brick Kilns today.
Executing the orders from the DM, Tehsildar Udhampur, who is known for his quick action enforced the orders and successfully closed down three Banquet Halls yesterday while three Brick Kilns were closed today for violating the guidelines of Pollution Control Board.
SHO Udhampur Raghuvir Singh assisted the team lead by Tehsildar and was instrumental in maintaining the law and order in the area during the action.
According to reports, in a proactive approach to preserve and protect environment and in response to directives from the Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Pollution Control Committee, District Magistrate Udhampur Saloni Rai has ordered the closure of three Brick Kilns-Vinod Brick Kiln, Shiv Shanti, and Shavilik Brick Kiln-within the jurisdiction of District Udhampur.
This action is taken under Section 33(A) of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, and Section 31(A) of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981. The District Magistrate emphasized the immediate shutdown of the specified Brick Kilns and mandated the submission of a compliance report to this office.
A coordinated effort involving officials from Revenue, Police, and the Pollution Control Board, led by Tehsildar Udhampur, Jai Singh, successfully enforced the closure of the identified establishments.
It is worth mentioning here that while DC Udhampur is known for crackdown against illegal activities, the Tehsildar Udhampur, Jai Singh is the point man for higher officials to execute the orders with impunity and quickly which was visible since yesterday when he enforced the closure of three Banquet Halls and three Brick Kilns today on the orders of DC.
Tehsildar Jai Singh who has earlier served as Tehsildar Jammu North and Tehsildar Jourian is known for his passion for work and helpful nature towards ordinary and genuine people.
He has been of immense help to common man wherever he has served and has always been in the forefront to help the needy and genuine people. The residents of Jammu North and Jourian still remember him for his commendable work in their area and praise him for his selfless work adding he is always available to common man without hesitation.

Similarly, SHO Udhampur Raghuvir Singh is also a favourite among the masses as he has been instrumental in maintaining law and order situation in Udhampur and has tightened noose around the criminal elements, drug peddlers and bovine smugglers.
Under his leadership the Udhampur police, since his joining, has taken strong action against drug menace and crime, bringing down the crime graph.
He has also taken strong actions against Bovine smugglers making huge recoveries and cracking down on bovine smugglers in his jurisdiction.
