Raids conducted, several files seized but no arrest has been made in BDO record theft case

RDD is in grip of miscreants!

• The raids were conducted at Bagani in Mathwar Block, Akhnoor, Karwanda and Lower Roop Nagar to recover the missing record.
• These miscreants were habitual in past to such things but at present such things cannot be executed as LG has very tough stand against corruption and corrupt practices.

Jammu, May 14: Why is the trend of stealing the government record from the government offices increasing day by day? Who are these people stealing the government record that too from the government offices? Is there any separate act for such theft made by government employees? Will government terminate such officials and court of law will pronounce lifer to them involved in stealing the government record? Why not the senior officers are vigilant that such things be avoided? Why not the government also prosecute against the senior officers whose subordinates have stolen the record? These are very typical questions irritating in the mind of people and the government must come forward and make a reply over such incidents.
The Assistant Commissioner (Development) Jammu Preeti Sharma JKAS has written a letter to Station House Officer, Gharota letter No ASDJ/MGNREGA/2023-24/1575-80 dated 13-05-2023 that the concerned Block development Officer Mathwar vide his letter No BDO/MTH/2023-24/98 dated 12-05-2023 reported her office that the record of Block Mathwar pertaining to various schemes have been stolen which is required for the social audit of the MGNREGA Scheme with effect from 2015 to 2023. The ACD Jammu further requested to SHO to lodge an FIR and recover the requisite record and bank accounts record with effect from 2015-2023 from the concerned officials i.e. present Panchayat Secretary namely Farooq Ali and previous Panchayat Secretary Mool Raj Raina and the the clerical staff of BDO office, Matwar.
The ACD Jammu has asked the police to act against the Panchayat Secretaries present and previous but she absolved the concerned BDO in his FIR, which should be reconsidered as the matter pertains to the office of BDO Mathwar. Second, the ACD Jammu and BDO Mathwar both have taken theft issue lightly as the BDO reported on 12-05-2023 but ACD Jammu wrote letter to SHO on 13-05-2023 which was supposed to be written on same day according the seriousness of the issue. This is also slackness on the part of ACD Jammu which should also be enquired.
It is pertinent to mention that Jammu Police, Administration & RDD teams has carried out raids in and around Jammu on intervening night of Saturday and Sunday late night, whereas the teams seized more than 200 Files/Books from the residents of the persons. The sources revealed that more than 200 Files/Books were seized in joint operation which was started at 11:30 pm on Saturday night and ended early Sunday morning. The team comprised of concerned SDPO, BDO, Naib Tehsildar and SHO, which carried out the raids in Bagani in Mathwar block, Akhnoor, Karwanda and Lower Roop Nagar areas of Jammu district.
The raids were conducted at Houses of Panchayat Secretaries/ VLWs in connection with missing of some files relating to tendering works done by Contractors. But there is no any report of arresting any person in the concern of such heinous crime and it is expected that police will arrest the thieves very soon.
The Deputy Commissioner Jammu has deputed a first class magistrate to monitor the process and SSP Jammu has remained in touch with the raiding party and thereafter developments.
