Tehsildar Khour illegally issues permission to cut trees from Custodian land

Jammu, Feb 21: How can a Tehsildar Khour Raman Jandial issue permission to cut the trees on the Custodian land? Why has the Tehsildar Khour Raman Jandial issued the permission to cut the trees from the Custodian land in violation to law of land? What was the intention of the Tehsildar Khour Raman Jandial for issuing unconstitutional permission to cut the trees? Why the Tehsildar Khour Raman Jandial encroaching the powers of the Custodian who is senior officer to him and only authorized to issue the permission to cut the tress from Custodian land? These are some hard question for revenue department in general and for Tehsildar Khour in particular as people want to know the fact in this case.
A social activist from Khour Shambu Bavani Sharma has filed a complaint with Custodian, Evacuee Property Jammu regarding illegal cutting of the trees from the Custodian land by Ajmer Singh son of Lt Bakshi Singh and promptly the energetic officer shot a letter vide his office No 1772-73.AP dated 20-02-2023 to the Tehsildar Khour and directed him to visit the spot immediately and take necessary action. He also clearly directed to the concerned Tehsildar to furnish the action taken/detailed factual report to his office accordingly.
It is pertinent to mention that the prompt action of Custodian has sent a strict message to the timber trader who cut the trees the illegally. The letter read as ‘(Enclosed) herewith an application received from one Shambu Bavani Sharma s/o She Kali Dass R/o Ward No 12, Marchangi Khour, J&K UT, regarding the above noted subject. In this connection you are directed to visit the spot immediately and take necessary action to the matter as per the law. Besides, furnish action taken/detailed factual report to this office accordingly.’ The subject is as; ‘An application of Shambu Bavani Sharma s/o She Kali Dass R/o Ward No 12, Marchangi Khour, J&K UT regarding illegally cutting of local trees including prohibited trees of Eucalyptus (Safada), popular trees from the custodian land under Khasra No 159, 160, 161, 162, 163, 166, 167 respectively by one of Ajmer Singh s/o lt Bakshi Singh.’
The issue has many dimensions and other departments including Police and Forest are also under doubt. The trees were being cut openly but the police kept silent and the officers of Forest department also remained in deep slumber and could not take action. The office of SDM Khour also remained silent over the issue and indirectly allowed them to cut the trees illegally.
The Jammu Jottings correspondent has talked to Custodian EP Jammu Ravinder Sharma over the authorization of issuing permission to cut the trees, he (Custodian) said that Tehsildar has no authority to issue the permission to cut the tress from the Custodian land, whereas, correspondent of Jammu Jottings have tried to connect with the Tehsildar Khour Raman Jandial who avoided to reply.
