No bunker constructed since September 2022: Sources

Rajouri, Feb 6: Against the target of constructing 3140 individual and community bunkers for Rajouri district in the Union Territory of J&K, the work on 2782 bunkers is complete in all respects.
This was disclosed at a meeting of concerned officers on Monday which was chaired by the District Development Commissioner (DDC), Vikas Kundal, IAS.
It is pertinent to mention here that in the month of September 2022 in one such meeting, the DDC was informed by the officers/officials of PWD(R&B) & Rural Development Department (RDD) that 2783 bunkers have been completed in all respect.
If 2783 bunkers were completed in all respect till September 2022, then how it is possible that 2782 bunkers were completed till February 2023 (as was disclosed in today’s meeting)?
On Monday, the DDC, Vikas Kundal chaired a meeting of the concerned officers to review the progress of work on the border bunkers being constructed by the PWD and RDD.
The DDC was informed that against the target of constructing 3140 bunkers, the work on 2782 bunkers is complete in all respects.
Vikas Kundal, instructed the officers to put in all possible efforts to ensure that the set targets are achieved well in time so that necessary benefits are provided to the border residents with the completion of bunkers.
He also asked to complete work on the rest of the bunkers by March 31 this year.
Stress was also laid on maintaining quality while executing work on the bunkers. The DDC made it clear that no laxity shall be tolerated in this regard.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Planning Officer, Mohammad Khurshid; Assistant Commissioner Development, Vijay Kumar; ExEn PWD(R&B) Rajouri, Maqbool Hussain and ExEn PWD (R&B) Nowshera, Bikram Singh.
These bunkers were sanctioned by the Government of India for the border people of the Rajouri district where there are 95 vulnerable locations that fall between 0-3 km distance from the LoC.
These bunkers are distributed in various vulnerable habitations, hamlets, and among individual families near the LoC after assessing the needs and requirements of the most deserving families in Manjakote, Doongi, Lam, Jhangar, Bhowani, and Nowshera areas.
