Rajouri, October 7: According to initial reports, a brief exchange of fire-around 10-12 rounds-took place between the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Rajouri Police and terrorists near Beeranthub pasture in the general area of Dhar Sakri, under the jurisdiction of Kandi Police Station in Rajouri district.
The incident occurred at about 7 p.m. on Tuesday (October 7), when hiding terrorists opened fire on an SOG team that was moving to launch a joint search operation with the CRPF and Army, following intelligence inputs about the presence of two terrorists in the area.
“Exchange of fire took place between terrorists and the SOG team in Beeranthub area, police station Kandi, Rajouri. Joint parties of Police, Army, and CRPF have rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area,” Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti posted on X.
Reliable sources said the group has been on the run and has been tracked by the Army for the past few days. Their movement was earlier reported in the DKG-Bafliaz and Lah-Bowli areas of Thanamandi.
At the time of filing this report, no casualties were reported in the brief exchange of fire.
Sources added that another group of terrorists was also spotted about three days ago in the Dheri-Kathooni area adjoining the Beeranthub pasture, and a possible plan for a major terror action cannot be ruled out.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a landmine blast occurred at Basooni, ahead of the fence in the Balakote forward area of Poonch district. A buffalo belonging to Khan Mohd was injured in the explosion around 6 p.m.
