Rajouri-Delhi, October 1: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday celebrated Vijayadashami with soldiers of the Armed Forces in Bhuj, Gujarat, joining them for the traditional Barakhana and reaffirming the government’s commitment to their welfare and modernization.
Addressing troops, Singh said the nature of warfare is rapidly changing with challenges such as terrorism, cyber-attacks, drones, and information warfare adding new dimensions. “These cannot be countered by weapons alone. Mental strength, updated knowledge, and adaptability are equally important,” he stressed.
He urged soldiers to embrace technology, train regularly, and remain prepared for every scenario. “Wars are not won by weapons alone but by discipline, morale and constant readiness. The invincible force is one that continuously learns and adapts,” he said.
The Defence Minister assured that the welfare of soldiers and their families remains “non-negotiable,” while pledging respect for veterans and continuous efforts towards defence self-reliance. “The dream of a strong and developed India rests on the shoulders of our soldiers,” he added.
Calling the 21st century the “era of India,” Singh credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for accelerating the journey towards self-reliance in defence. He expressed confidence that with the Armed Forces’ commitment, “India will soon be home to one of the finest militaries in the world.”
Paying tribute to Bhuj and Kutch, Singh hailed the region as “an emotion and a saga of courage.” He recalled its bravery in the 1971 war, the Kargil conflict, and its resilience after the 2001 earthquake, likening it to the mythical phoenix rising from the ashes.
The event was attended by Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, Southern Command GOC-in-C Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, and 12 Corps Commander Lieutenant General Aditya Vikram Singh Rathee.
