Kathua sep 22 : Continuing its crackdown on drug trafficking, Kathua Police arrested two drug peddl ers and recovered 67.30 grams of heroin-like substance under the jurisdiction of Police Station Lakhanpur on 21st September 2025.
Acting on specific intelligence, police teams set up checkpoints at key locations under the supervision of SSP Kathua Sh. Shobhit Saksena (IPS), Addl. SP Sh. Rahul Charak (JKPS), DySP DAR Sh. Ritesh Sambyal, and SHO Lakhanpur Sh. Tariq Ahmed.
Barkat Ali, S/o Juma Butt, R/o Backan Bani (A/P Maroli), was arrested at Village Maroli with 6.28 grams of heroin-like substance.
Surmu Din, S/o Imam Din, R/o Dera Baba Nanak (Gurdaspur), was caught near Link Road Jagatpur with 61.02 grams.
Two separate cases-FIR No. 111/2025 and 112/2025-have been registered under the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
Kathua Police appeals to the public to report drug-related activities and support efforts to build a drug-free society.
