Body of 20-Year-Old Found 25 km Away, a Day After Being Swept Away

Rajouri, August 19: A tragic incident unfolded in Rajouri after a 20-year-old youth, Atif Shah, was swept away while attempting to cross a local river in the Mubarakpura-Dassal area on Monday (August 18).
Atif Shah’s body was recovered on Tuesday from Dalogra, nearly 25 kilometers downstream from the village Mubarkpura-Dassal, where he had been washed away.
Soon after the incident, rescue operations were launched by the police, SDRF teams, and the district administration.
A massive search was carried out from Mubarakpura to Dalogra, and finally, the SDRF and police personnel recovered his body from the Sukhto River in Dalogra.
Deputy SP SDRF, Jabeen Khan, confirmed that the body was identified and later shifted to Associated Hospital GMC Rajouri for postmortem and completion of medico-legal formalities before being handed over to the family.
The atmosphere at Shah’s residence turned heartbreaking as soon as the body reached home.
His parents and sisters were inconsolable, repeatedly fainting at the sight of his remains. The young man was later laid to rest amid tears and grief-filled prayers.
