CUJ Student and Gangsters Arrested with Arms & Ammunition

JAMMU, 4th August 2025: In a significant breakthrough, Jammu Police have arrested four individuals, including a student of the Central University of Jammu, in connection with a firing incident that took place during a function at Swaran Palace, Miran Sahib, on 23rd February 2025.
Following the incident, a case was registered at Police Station Miran Sahib under FIR No. 27/2025, invoking Sections 109 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 3/25 of the Arms Act. Initial investigations led to the arrest of two criminals on the same day, and two pistols were recovered from their possession. However, several of their associates managed to flee.
Under the leadership of Station House Officer Inspector Jai Pal Sharma and with sustained efforts by Sub-Inspector Ajesh Singh Jamwal, two more accused were apprehended, following close supervision by SDPO R.S. Pura and SP Headquarters Jammu.
The arrested individuals include:
1. Balwinder Singh alias Goru Jatt, son of Swarn Singh, resident of Ranjri, Vijaypur (Samba district). One pistol and live cartridges were recovered from his possession.
2. Kaif Ahmed, son of Shami Ahmed, resident of Barharian near Masjid, Siwan (Bihar), currently pursuing B.Tech from the Central University of Jammu. He has been identified as an interstate arms supplier and is believed to be the main source of illegal weapons supplied to gangsters operating in Jammu and Samba districts.
With this operation, the police have successfully disrupted an active network of illegal arms smuggling and criminal activity in the region. Further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend remaining members of the gang and trace the origins of the weapons recovered.
The Jammu Police reiterate their commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring that such criminal activities are dealt with strictly under the law.
