ECI Aims for 100% Accuracy: Draft Bihar Electoral Roll to Be Published on August 1

jj Correspondent
Rajouri, July 24: In its ongoing effort to ensure transparency and accuracy in the electoral process, the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced that the Draft Electoral Roll for Bihar will be published on August 1, 2025. The aim, as reiterated by the ECI, is that no eligible voter should be left out and no ineligible name should remain on the rolls.
According to the ECI, booth-level officers (BLOs), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), District Election Officers (DEOs), and Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) have already shared lists of electors who have either not submitted their forms, are deceased, or have permanently migrated, with all political parties on July 20.
This early sharing is intended to allow political parties to flag any discrepancies ahead of the final publication.
The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process has yielded significant findings so far: BLOs and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) have reported 21.6 lakh deceased electors,
31.5 lakh voters who have permanently migrated, and
7 lakh electors who are registered in more than one place.
Additionally, 1 lakh electors remain untraceable despite door-to-door visits.
While forms for 7.21 crore electors (91.32%) have already been received and digitised, fewer than 7 lakh electors are yet to submit their forms.
The ECI confirmed that the remaining forms are in the process of digitisation along with BLO and BLA reports to enable thorough verification during the claims and objections period.
As per the SIR Order, the window for filing claims or objections-by electors or political parties-regarding missing names or incorrect inclusions will remain open until September 1, 2025.
Both printed and digital copies of the Draft Roll will be provided to all 12 recognised political parties and made available on the official website for public access.
The ECI has underscored its commitment to inclusivity and fairness in the electoral process, urging all stakeholders to actively participate in the verification and claims process to ensure a robust and accurate voter roll.
