JAMMU : Tightening noose against notorious Criminals/ Characters, Nowabad Police today on 16.05.2025 achieved a major success when it apprehended 02 notorious criminals and recovered 02 illegal weapons (01 pistol & 01 revolver) alongwith 04 live rounds from their possession.
A Police naka was laid near T-point on Tawi 4th Bridge. Two persons coming on bike towards T-point on 4th bridge were signalled to stop for checking. Both of them tried to run away from the spot but alert police party over- powered them.
On checking, 01 pistol and 01 revolver (Sixer) alongwith 04 live rounds were recovered from their possession. Later they were identified as Sumit Verma @ Vansh S/O Rajesh Kumar R/O Vill. Shergarh Distt. Jammu and Goshu Kumar @ Sahil @ Gudda S/O Kala Ram R/O Vill. Mehmudpur Distt. Jammu.
Sumit Verma turned out to be a notorious criminal/ character against whom several FIRs have already been registered in
Bishnah, Gandhi Nagar, Bari Brahmana Police Stations. They had kept illegal fire arms with them to eliminate member of rival group.
In this connection, Case FIR NO. 65/2025 U/S 3/25 Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Nowabad, Jammu.
Moreover, the motorcycle Hero Splendor (Black coloured) No. JK02DP-8349 they were riding has also been seized from the spot.
Police Party led by Inspector Deepak Pathania SHO Nowabad and assisted by PSI Aziz Tariq , PSI Vikram Singh I/C PP Canal Road, HC Jaipal Singh, HC Nizam Din and Ct. Neeraj Kumar made the arrest/recovery under the supervision of Madam Farha Nishat DySP Hqrs., Sh. Vivek Shekhar SP City North & Sh. Joginder Singh SSP Jammu.
People have highly appreciated the proactive approach of Police in apprehending notorious criminals otherwise there would have been a major criminal activity in Jammu
