DC Rajouri directs employees to remain present, keep phones on 24×7

Rajouri, May 13: In an order issued on Tuesday by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri and signed by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, all employees posted in the district have been directed to attend to their legitimate duties without fail. Employees have also been instructed to keep their mobile phones switched on 24×7 for communication and to remain available for any assignment in case of an emergency.

“Any government employee found absent without authorization or found with their mobile phone switched off shall be liable for disciplinary action as per the relevant service rules,” the order stated.

The directive, issued under the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma, IAS, also mandates that all district and sectoral officers ensure strict compliance with the order by their respective staff.

It is pertinent to mention that since May 7, when the Pakistan army targeted the civilian population with heavy shelling, most employees left Rajouri for safer locations and have not yet resumed duties, despite the situation having improved.

On Monday, the Principal of Government Medical College halted the salaries of many doctors and staff members who had fled following the May 7 shelling.
