Jammu, Mar 15: In a significant operation aimed at combating child labor and human trafficking, Ranjeet Singh, Tehsildar of Khour, successfully rescued 34 individuals, including children, who were working as bonded laborers at the BMK (Sanju Bhatta) brick kiln in the village of Dhanger, Tehsil Khour. The rescue operation was initiated in response to a complaint received by the authorities, and it was carried out following the directions of the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Khour. The rescued individuals were immediately handed over to the local police authorities for further investigation, with plans to reunite them with their families or place them in the care of relevant authorities. This initiative was taken as part of the ongoing efforts to eliminate child labor and bonded labor in the region, ensuring that children are not deprived of their basic right to education and a carefree childhood. Tehsildar Ranjeet Singh emphasized that the primary objective was to ensure that children, who were being exploited in labor, are provided with opportunities to enjoy their childhood and pursue their studies. “Child labor is a serious issue, and it is our responsibility to protect children from such exploitative conditions. They deserve to be in schools, not working in hazardous environments,” he said. The local police have been directed to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter, ensuring that the perpetrators are booked under the relevant legal provisions. Authorities have also made it clear that strict action will be taken against anyone found guilty of engaging in the exploitation of workers, particularly minors. This timely intervention reflects the growing commitment of the Jammu administration to tackle child labor and bonded labor in the region.
