Sources said that suspected terrorists hiding in the forest in border village Phall in Sunderbani subdivision in Rajouri district opened a few rounds on Army’s vehicle on Wednesday morning.
However, no injury was reported from the spot besides minor damage to the vehicle after it hit the roadside pine tree.
The area is a traditional infiltration route especially from Keri-Battal adjoining area in Akhnoor sector where recently a Captain and a Naik had attained martyrdom in an IED blast triggered by the terrorists.
Neither Army nor police have issued any official statement in this incident however, sources said the terrorists were hiding in the adjoining forest.
According to another version in this incident it was an accidental fire by a soldier who was sitting on the driver’s adjoining seat and the fire hit the front glass.
The police have registered a case in this incident for further investigation.
