Rajouri, February 24: Following the tragic death of a 15-year-old girl after receiving an injection at a chemist shop in the vicinity of Associated Hospital GMC Rajouri, the family members and locals staged a protest, blocking the road and demanding strict action.
The police have taken swift action by sealing the chemist shop and arresting its owner.
Meanwhile, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Rajouri, Dr. Manohar Lal Rana has ordered the sealing of the adjoining private Elite Dental Clinic where the prescription was issued.
Notably the death of 15-year-old girl was second in two consecutive days. On Sunday a 70 -year-old woman died at CHC Thanamandi due to alleged negligence of doctors/staff.
In both the cases CMO Rajouri has ordered an inquiry.
According to mother of victim 15-year-old Ishrat Naz daughter of Mohammad Shafiq, resident of Malhoti-Darhal, had been suffering from severe tooth pain and was brought to AH GMC Rajouri at about 8.30 am on Monday.
But, since no doctor was available at 8:30 AM at AH GMC, they sought help at a private dental clinic nearby. The doctor at the clinic examined the girl and prescribed an injection.
Following the prescription, the mother took her to M/S Pir Panjal Chemist shop adjacent to the clinic, where the injection was administered.
However, as soon as the injection was given, the girl lost consciousness. To revive her, two more injections were administered at the shop, but she remained unresponsive.
Realizing the gravity of the situation, reportedly the doctor arranged for an auto-rickshaw to transport her back to AH GMC Rajouri, where doctors declared her brought dead.
As soon as news of her death spread, a large number of villagers and family members gathered at AH GMC Rajouri, carrying the girl’s body to the roadside and staging a protest.
Advocate Zaki, leading the demonstration, expressed deep frustration over the recurring medical negligence in Rajouri.
He alleged that both government and private medical institutions are putting lives at risk due to incompetence and unqualified personnel.
The protestors demanded that the doctor be charged with murder, arrested, and his clinic permanently sealed. They warned of continued protests until their demands were met.
Acting on the incident, the police reportedly sealed both the Elite Dental Clinic (Kheora, Rajouri) and the associated M/S Pir Panjal Chemist shop. The chemist shop owner, Tauseef Shah, has been taken into custody for further investigation.
