Rajouri police crack major narcotics case, 6 kgs heroin recovered from kingpin & his associates

Kingpin among 5 arrested so far with total recovery of 11.3 kgs of heroin-like substance

Rajouri, Feb 14: In a major achievement against drug smuggling from across the Line of Control (LoC), Nowshera police in Rajouri district have arrested the main accused and his associates-under ongoing investigation in a case registered in 2022- and recovered additional 6 kgs of heroin-like substance from their possession on Friday.
It is pertinent to mention here that in a joint operation with Army against drug smugglers Nowshera police on December 16 last year had arrested Sajan Kumar@ Vicky son of Om Parkash and Subash Chander s/o Pishori Lal (both resident of Nowshera) from village Makri along with 5.3 kilograms of heroin-like substance in the presence of 1st Class Magistrate.
Both were booked under sections 8/21/22 NDPS Act (FIR No.178/2024) at Nowshera police station.
During sustained questioning and further investigation Sajan & Subash disclosed the name of the prime accused & kingpin namely Jaswinder Kumar @ Sonu s/o late Karam Chand, a resident of Lamberi (Nowshera) who was arrested by the police on February 5, 2025.
Jaswinder was also booked in another case FIR NO.36/2024 and was absconding since then.
Jaswinder during interrogation admitted that he is receiving smuggled heroin from across the LoC from PoJK based Narco Operative through his associates namely Ashok Kumar s/o Roop Lal, and Sanjay Kumar s/o Jia Lal, both residents of forward village Sair in sector Bhawani.
Both Ashok Kumar and Sanjay Kumar were arrested by the Nowshera police reportedly on Thursday and during questioning they admitted having in possession a consignment of smuggled heroin in 12 packets weighing 6 kg.
During a search of their houses and surrounding areas, police recovered 12 n Contd on page 2
packets of smuggled heroin-like substance on Friday.
Further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend other individuals linked to this network.
The whole operation was carried out under the overall supervision of SSP Rajouri, Gaurav Sikarwar, IPS and under the supervision of Additional SP Nowshera.
“This recovery marks a major success in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking and Rajouri Police remains committed to eradicating the drug menace and ensuring strict legal action against those involved,” said police.
