Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday (February 4) has rebutted Rahul Gandhi’s (leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha) remarks in Parliament for alleging that China was sitting inside the country.

Defence Minister in a post of X asked Rahul Gandhi to consider introspecting about the phase of our history.

Rahul Gandhi on Monday in the Parliament alleged that China is sitting inside this country (on our land) and the Prime Minister denied the presence of Chinese forces in Indian territory despite the Army’s frequent communication with Chinese counterparts.

Rahul Gandhi further stated that the Chief of Army Staff has said that the Chinese are inside our territory.

Rajnath Singh on Tuesday issued a tweet on X regarding Rahu Gandhi’s certain remarks about the statement of the Chief of the Army Staff on the situation along the India-China border.

“Army Chief’s observations pertained to the temporary disturbance of traditional patrolling patterns by both sides along the border and these patrolling practices have now been restored to their traditional pattern following the recent disengagement efforts,” stated Rajnath Singh

He added these details were previously shared in Parliament.

Rajnath Singh also clarified that the words attributed to the Army Chief in the parliamentary debate were never stated by him at any time.

He underscored the importance of accuracy and responsible discourse on matters concerning national security.

“With respect to territorial issues, it is well documented that 38,000 sq. km of Indian territory in Aksai Chin has been under Chinese control since the 1962 conflict,” Rajnath Singh stated.

“Furthermore, 5,180 sq. km of territory was ceded by Pakistan to China in 1963. These historical facts remain an integral part of India’s territorial discourse,” he added.

“Shri Rahul Gandhi in his speech in Parliament on 03 February 2025 made false allegations about the statement of the Army Chief on the situation on the India-China border. The Army Chief’s remarks referred only to the disturbance of traditional patrolling by both sides. He also mentioned that these practices have been restored to their traditional pattern as part of the recent disengagement. Government has shared these details in Parliament. The words attributed to the Army Chief by Shri Rahul Gandhi were never spoken by him at any time. It is a matter of deep regret that Shri Rahul Gandhi should indulge in irresponsible politics on matters of national interest” read Defence Minister post on X.

“If at all there is Indian Territory into which China has come, this is 38,000 sq. km in Aksai Chin as a result of the 1962 conflict and 5,180 sq. km. illegally ceded by Pakistan to China in 1963. Shri Rahul Gandhi may consider introspecting about this phase of our history” read post.
