Forest Department demolishes illegal construction in Bhathindi, Jammu

Jammu Tawi, Jan 18: In a significant move to protect forest lands, the Forest Department today bulldozed an illegal structure constructed on forest land in Bhathindi area of Jammu district. The operation was carried out as part of the department’s ongoing efforts to curb encroachments on protected forest areas.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Jammu, Suresh Manda, confirmed the demolition, emphasizing that the Forest Department is committed to preserving and safeguarding forest resources. He said, “We will not tolerate any form of encroachment on forest land. All unauthorized constructions will be removed, and the land will be vacated to restore its original purpose.”
The structure in question had been illegally built on forest land, violating environmental regulations and laws governing land use in protected areas. The Forest Department’s action is part of a broader initiative to reclaim encroached lands and prevent further unauthorized activities in the region. “The protection of forest land is a priority, and we will ensure that no illegal construction, whether residential, commercial, or otherwise, is allowed on these lands,” added Suresh Manda.
The demolition was carried out under strict supervision, and no resistance was encountered during the operation. The Forest Department has warned that similar actions will be taken against other encroachments across the district.
Residents in the area have been urged to respect the laws regarding forest land and to avoid any activities that could lead to encroachments or environmental degradation. The Forest Department has assured that the vacant land will be preserved for its ecological value and for future generations to benefit from.
