Jammu, Jan 2: Who is accountable for the nuisance caused by the vegetable rehari (street vendors) operating in the middle of the main chowk of Bari Brahmana, along the Old Samail Pur road, obstructing vehicular traffic? Why is the Executive Officer of the Municipal Committee Bari Brahmana remaining silent on this urgent issue of encroachment and disorder caused by these vendors? What is preventing the Executive Officer from taking necessary action against the encroachers and violators of municipal norms? Why does the Executive Officer of the Municipal Committee Bari Brahmana appear to be scared by these Rehari owners, despite their clear violations of municipal regulations? Who will step in to address this situation if the Executive Officer deliberately turns a blind eye to these infractions, which disrupt the smooth flow of traffic on the main road and affect the daily lives of the public?
Furthermore, why is the Director, Urban Local Bodies Department not taking any action against the officers who are failing to carry out their responsibilities effectively within the Municipal Committee of Bari Brahmana? These pressing questions are creating significant concern among the public and need immediate attention. It is high time that the responsible authorities within the Urban Local Bodies administration take a proactive approach and provide answers to these critical issues. The people of Bari Brahmana deserve a solution, and the concerned officers must step forward to address this growing problem with the seriousness it warrants.
The situation has escalated to such alarming levels that it could lead to a major mishap in the middle of the main chowk, yet the concerned authorities remain in deep slumber. The local residents and traffic operators are growing increasingly frustrated and fearful as the threat of an accident looms large. The constant obstruction and chaos created by the rehari (street vendors) in this critical area are not only causing inconvenience but also putting lives at risk.
Two days ago, I personally contacted the Executive Officer of the Municipal Committee Bari Brahmana to seek his response on this urgent matter. He assured me that action would be taken against the violators. However, despite his assurance, there has been no visible change in the situation. The rehari owners continue to operate unhindered, occupying the middle of the chowk, and the disorder persists unabated.
In a shocking revelation, a complainant, speaking anonymously, informed Jammu Jottings that one of the rehari owners aggressively threatened him. Not only did the vendor attempt to provoke a quarrel, but he also called upon a group of individuals (two or three persons) with the intent to physically assault the complainant. The complainant further revealed that one of the rehari owners boldly declared that no power could remove his stall from the main chowk, implying that they had influential support, possibly greasing the palms of certain officers.
This situation cannot be allowed to continue any longer. It is now the responsibility of the Director of the Urban Local Bodies Department to take immediate and effective action against these violations. Furthermore, the officers of the Bari Brahmana Municipal Committee must be held accountable for their dereliction of duty. Their failure to address this growing menace is not only compromising public safety but also undermining the trust of the community.
The people of Bari Brahmana deserve action, and it is high time that the responsible authorities take the necessary steps to restore order and ensure the safety and well-being of the public.
