In a significant breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, a police party from Police Post Nagri, under the leadership of Incharge Officer Inspector Ashish Sharma, successfully arrested a notorious drug peddler, Juman Din, son of Paau, a resident of Khanwal Marheen, Kathua. The arrest took place in the Chak Drab Khan area of Kathua, where approximately 225 grams of heroin, commonly referred to as ‘chitta’, were seized.
The operation was carried out with precision and strategic planning, reflecting the Kathua Police’s unwavering commitment to curbing the drug menace that has plagued the region. Following the arrest, an FIR was filed at Police Station Kathua under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, marking a crucial step in the ongoing battle against drug trafficking.
The successful bust is a testament to the relentless efforts of Inspector Ashish Sharma and his team at Police Post Nagri, who executed this operation under the guidance of SHO Kathua, Inspector Ajay Chib. The entire operation was conducted under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Manjeet Singh, ASP Kathua Rahul Charak, JKPS, and the overall leadership of SSP Kathua, Sh. Shobit Saxena, IPS.
Inspector Ajay Chib, in particular, has been instrumental in the strategic push against drug trafficking in the Kathua district. His efforts in 2024 have been pivotal, leading to the registration of 25 FIRs under the NDPS Act. These proactive measures have been crucial in containing the drug trade and making Kathua a safer place. The police’s efforts have not only targeted the street-level drug peddlers but have also extended to dismantling entire narcotic networks. As part of these efforts, property worth Rs 57 lakh has been seized from an individual involved in drug trafficking, sending a strong message to criminals that their ill-gotten gains will not go unchecked.
In a further show of determination, the police have also slapped a Public Safety Act (PSA) on a notorious criminal connected to several crimes, ensuring that they face preventive detention for their continued illegal activities. This is part of a broader strategy by the Kathua Police to make sure that repeat offenders are removed from society and deter others from engaging in criminal activities.
Additionally, the Kathua Police have been taking a hard stance against other forms of organized crime. Under the direct supervision of SHO Kathua, the police have arrested 25 individuals involved in bovine smuggling. This operation forms part of a broader crackdown on various illegal activities aimed at ensuring a law-abiding, peaceful environment for the citizens of Kathua.
