Vendors instructed to strictly adhere to KYC procedures: Police

Rajouri, Dec 22: Focused on verifying compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC) norms and to enhance public safety and prevent the misuse of SIM Cards, district Rajouri police on Sunday conducted a comprehensive district-wide inspection of SIM card vendors in areas of Rajouri, Thanamandi and Kalakote .
“This effort was aimed at ensuring strict adherence to guidelines for SIM card sales and activations while supporting law enforcement objectives,” said police.
The inspection focused on verifying compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC) norms, ensuring proper documentation, and preventing the unauthorized issuance of SIM cards.
Vendors were thoroughly monitored to ensure their operations comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
Rajouri Police emphasized the vital role of SIM vendors in safeguarding communication systems and instructed them to strictly adhere to KYC procedures.
“Vendors were cautioned that any non-compliance would result in severe legal consequences, including penalties, cancellation of licenses, and potential prosecution,” police said.
Vendors in Rajouri District were advised to maintain a comprehensive physical record of their operations and install CCTV cameras at their service counters to enhance security. Strict adherence to all rules and regulations governing the issuance of SIM cards and related services was reiterated.
