Kathua police dismantles Drug-Network with arrest of notorious peddler, 10 grams of Heroin seized

Kathua, Nov 13: In a significant success in the fight against drug abuse, the Kathua Police have arrested a notorious drug peddler, Gareeb Dass, who was caught red-handed with a substantial quantity of narcotics. The arrest was made by a team from Police Post Nagri, led by Inspector Ashish Sharma, in a well-coordinated operation targeting drug trafficking in the Chak Drab Khan area of Kathua district.
Swift action by Police Post Nagri: Acting on specific intelligence, the police party from Police Post Nagri, under the able leadership of Inspector Ashish Sharma, raided the suspect’s location in Chak Drab Khan. The operation resulted in the recovery of approximately 10.08 grams of heroin-like substance (chitta), a highly addictive drug that has been ravaging local communities. The police promptly arrested Gareeb Dass, son of Banarsi Dass, a resident of Ward No. 05, Chak Drab Khan.
This timely intervention prevented a potential drug distribution operation and highlighted the district’s commitment to curbing the menace of narcotics. The seizure is part of the ongoing efforts to root out drug syndicates operating in the region, particularly those targeting vulnerable youth.
FIR registered, investigation underway: In light of the substantial recovery, Police Station Kathua has registered an FIR under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, initiating a full-scale investigation into the case. Police are currently examining Dass’s connections to wider drug trafficking networks, as part of their larger efforts to dismantle the drug trade in Kathua.
Team effort under skilled leadership: The success of this operation is attributed to the effective teamwork and leadership provided by Inspector Ashish Sharma, who heads Police Post Nagri, and his dedicated team. The operation was carried out under the strategic guidance of SHO Kathua, Ajay Chib, and the direct supervision of DSP Hqrs, Manjeet Singh, ASP Kathua, Rahul Charak JKPS, and SSP Kathua, Shobit Saxena IPS.
District’s unified stand against drugs: This operation is part of a broader crackdown by the Kathua Police on the drug trade. SSP Shobit Saxena has reiterated that the police are committed to eradicating drug abuse from the region. He emphasized that the police would continue to monitor drug hotspots and take swift, decisive action against those involved in the illegal narcotics trade.
