Dereliction of duty: District Magistrate Rajouri suspended BMO; inquiry initiated

Rajouri, November 10: District Magistrate (DM) Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma has placed Block Medical Officer (BMO) Darhal Health Block for alleged dereliction of duty following a surprise inspection at sub-district hospital at Darhal at about 4.25 pm on Saturday.
The DM was on a visit to the area to rereview and assess the level of winter preparedness of government offices & during inspection of the sub-district hospital he found only one doctor and one technician present in the hospital while other staff was absent.
DM in his suspension order mentioned that such dereliction on part of the officials and their controlling officer (BMO) caused suffering to the people of Darhal area.
Taking the matter as serious, District Magistrate Abhishek Sharma ordered the suspension of BMO Darhal and attached him to the office of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at Rajouri during the period of suspension.
District Magistrate in his order directed CMO to hold the additional charge of BMO Darhal till the suspension of BMO or till the alternative arrangements are made.
To investigate the matter, District Magistrate has appointed Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC), Dr Raj Kumar Thapa as inquiry officer and directed him to submit his report within 3 days
The Deputy Commissioner stressed the administration’s commitment to ensuring efficient service delivery, particularly during the critical winter months, and warned that any negligence impacting public welfare will be met with strict consequences.
