Significant blow to terror infrastructure: Two hybrid JKGF terrorists arrested in Poonch

Rajouri, October 19: Indian Army, J&K police, & CRPF in a joint anti-terror operation has averted major tragedies by capturing two hybrid terrorists along with pistol, hand grenades, and pistol rounds in Surankote town of Poonch district on Friday (October 18).
Hybrid terrorists have been identified as Abdul Aziz and Manawar Hussain, both residents of village Hari (Surankot) and are associated with the J & K Ghaznavi Force (JKGF).
“Both the arrested terrorists were involved in grenade attacks on Temple, Gurudwara, hospital and are part of a larger conspiracy as they were also involved in pasting of anti-national posters in different areas in Surankote” said Additional DGP Jammu, Anand Jain.
ADGP Jammu, Anand Jain along with senior Army & Police officers on Saturday briefed media persons about the arrest of the two hybrid terrorists.
The arrest of the hybrid terrorists reflects the relentless efforts of the Security Forces to combat terrorism in Pir Panjal region as Abdul Aziz and Manawar Hussain, involved in terror activities, had maintained ordinary appearance to avoid detection by intelligence agencies/SF.
ADGP Jammu, Anand Jain while briefing media persons said that with the arrest of these two terrorists by the Army, Police, and CRPF, all the five cases of grenade attack since November last year have been solved.
Terming the arrest a big achievement for Security Forces, ADGP said: “They are part of a larger conspiracy and tried to create terror in Poonch district by carrying out grenade attacks on a temple, a gurdwara, an Army camp and a hospital, to harm brotherhood,”.
“During questioning of the terrorists, it has been revealed that they received four consignments of arms, ammunition and Rs 1.5 lakh from their handlers across the border,” said police.
Abdul Aziz was involved in throwing grenades at the Shiv temple (Surankote), on Gurdwara Mahant Sahib (Poonch); at Army sentry post Kamsar-Poonch) June; and in a school ground near CRPF sentry post (Poonch).
Hussain lobbed a grenade on the residential quarters of the district hospital at Poonch.
“Operations against terrorists/ foreign mercenaries will continue.
We are also working to destroy the support base of the terrorists and will ensure attachment of properties of the upper ground workers,” said ADGP, Anand Jain.
It is pertinent to mention here that on October 18 at a joint ‘naka’ by troops of 37 RR, 38th Bn CRPF and J&K Police, Abdul Aziz was intercepted while he was moving to village Dhundak on foot.
On frisking, SFs recovered two live grenades from his bag and he was taken to the police station at Surankote.
During investigation, Aziz revealed the name of his associate Munawar Hussain, also a resident of village Hari, who was also arrested by the police.
During search of their residences, SFs recovered one more grenade from the house of Abdul Aziz and one pistol along with a magazine and nine rounds from the house of Manawar Hussain.
This success follows last month’s arrest of another associate Mohd Shabir, to whom Abdul Aziz had supplied the explosives, underscoring the relentless efforts of the Indian Army and security forces to ensure peace and stability in the region.
