Assault case in Poonch: FIR lodged against 2 teachers and others

POONCH : In a troubling incident that has raised concerns within the community, the Poonch police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against five individuals for allegedly assaulting and intimidating a couple. Among the accused are two government school teachers currently employed in Poonch.
According to the FIR, registered under multiple sections of the law by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Poonch, the incident occurred on September 7, 2024, at approximately 5:15 PM. The FIR, numbered 170 and dated September 21, 2024, details the involvement of the following individuals: 1) Tanveer Bandey, son of Ghulam Rasool Bandey; 2) Mudasir Mir, son of Abdul Hameed; 3) Taj Hussain, son of Abdul Ghulam Mir; 4) Abdul Hameed, son of Abdul Gani Mir; and 5) Maqsooda Bi, wife of Mudasir Mir.
All five accused are residents of Poonch. The complaint was initially brought to the attention of the police following an email sent by the victim to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Poonch.
The Chief Education Officer (CEO) of Poonch, in a recent telephone conversation, stated that he had not received any formal communication regarding the FIR against the two teachers. He assured that upon receiving any information from the relevant authorities, appropriate action would be taken against the accused teachers in accordance with the law.
The incident has sparked discussions among local residents, highlighting the need for accountability, especially among those in positions of authority such as educators. Many community members are expressing their concerns about the influence of such actions on the integrity of educational institutions and the safety of citizens.
