Jammu Police shatters drug trade networks: Properties worth Rs 1.04 Crore seized in major crackdown

Jammu, Sep 12: In a significant move against the drug trade, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have today attached properties valued at ?1.04 crore, owned by notorious drug peddlers in the Ragoora area, South Zone, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu, Subdivision East of Jammu District. This high-profile action underscores the unwavering commitment of the Jammu Police to dismantling the illicit narcotics trade and its financial networks.
The seized assets include two luxurious residential houses owned by Javed Ahmed, son of Abdul Ghani, and his son Abdul Majeed, also known as Bhallu. Both individuals are residents of Lower Ragoora (Dawara), Jammu. The properties were confiscated under Section 68-F (1) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act of 1985, a crucial provision designed to target assets acquired from illegal drug trafficking.
A meticulous investigation by the Jammu Police revealed that these properties were funded through the proceeds of narcotic drugs. A detailed valuation, carried out by a board of engineers from the Roads & Buildings (R&B) Department and the Revenue Department, pegged the value of the attached properties at ?1 crore 4 lakh and 71 thousand. The assessment confirmed that these assets were acquired through the illicit trade of narcotics, far exceeding the legal income sources of the owners.
The operation was conducted under the vigilant supervision of SP Jammu South Ajay Sharma, a police officer renowned for his dedication and tireless efforts in combating drug crime. His leadership was instrumental in the successful execution of this significant seizure.
The drug peddlers involved have been linked to multiple high-profile cases under the NDPS Act: 1) FIR No. 9/2023 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Nagrota, Jammu; 2) FIR No. 33/2020 under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Janipur, Jammu; and FIR No. 39/2019 under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu, Jammu.
This latest action adds to the Jammu Police’s recent successes, which include the freezing of four other properties worth crores in the Rajeev Nagar area (three properties) and Ragoora (one property) over the past five months. These operations were overseen by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, highlighting a concerted and strategic approach to disrupting drug trafficking networks.
