SCSS hosts competition program

Jammu, Sep 10: The “Senior Citizen Services Support Club” (SCSS) Chawadi recently organized a competition titled “Mokhik Nibandh Pratiyogita” for students who had secured first place in similar competitions held at their respective schools. Twelve students, each having achieved first place in their individual schools, participated in this event. Prominent citizens from various fields and a distinguished group of Dogra personalities were invited to attend and contribute to the occasion. Dr. Kasturi Lal Gupta, founder and chairperson of the club and former Principal of GMC Jammu, spearheaded the organization of this program. He elaborated on its main objectives, which focus on the promotion of the Dogri language. Ashok Gupta, President of the club and former Drug Controller of J&K, welcomed both participants and attendees, emphasizing the event’s success and his commitment to promoting the Dogri language.
Maj. Gen. SK Sharma, AVSM, General Secretary of the club, informed that the School Education Department has mandated all schools to teach at least two native subjects in addition to English. Given that Dogri is the mother tongue of many in the Jammu province, it will now be a compulsory subject in schools. The competition’s judges included Padma Shri Sh. Mohan Singh Slathia, Prof. Padam Dev Malhar of Jammu University, Sh. Yash Pal Yash, General Secretary of Nami Dogri Sanstha, and Rajeshwar Singh Raju.
Following the competition, the judges delivered their verdicts. Miss Tarushi from SD Tarapuri High School, Gandhi Nagar, emerged as the winner and was awarded a prize of Rs. 2,100 by the Senior Citizen Services Support Club, Chawadi. All participants and dignitaries congratulated her on this achievement. The primary aim of the program was to promote the Dogri language.
Dr. Vijay Sharma, former Technical Officer at Doordarshan, coordinated the event with various media personnel, who captured the details of the event on camera. The event was further graced by Mr. Harish Kaila, President of Nami Dogri Sanstha; HC Vaid, Finance Secretary of Dogri Sanstha; Ashok Khajuria; Anju Bansa; Rajneesh Gupta from Viraj Kala Kendra; Kaliash Langar; Janak Khajuria; Madan Rangilla; Jyash Gupta; and other distinguished citizens from various fields.
