It has once again drawn a significant number of devotees and tourists to the Jammu base camp, creating a surge in the number of tourist buses arriving in the area. The parking slots near the Yatri base camp in Bhagwati Nagar have become increasingly crowded, causing inconvenience for the public, yatries, and tourists and need to be addressed by creating temporary parking..
It has been observed that the current parking facilities are insufficient to handle the heavy influx of vehicles, leading to congestion and logistical challenges. In response, a suggestion has been put forward to the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra Shrine Board and the civil administration to utilize a nearby piece of government land as a temporary parking solution till Yatra continues. .
The proposed land, measuring approximately 16 kanals, is situated just behind the Asia Hotel Jammu. Initially earmarked for the DC office Jammu, this land could serve as an ideal spot for temporary bus parking especially for tourists’ busses. By redirecting tourist buses to this location, the existing parking congestion at the base camp could be significantly reduced.
“This measure would not only ease the current parking issues but also provide a more organized and efficient system for managing the influx of yatries and tourists,” said a local resident. “It would benefit the public, the administration, and the tourists, making the yatra experience smoother and more enjoyable.”
Using this land for temporary bus parking could greatly alleviate the current congestion in the designated parking slots. This measure would ease the parking problems faced by the public, yatries, administration, and tourists, providing a more organized and efficient system to handle the heavy tourist traffic during the yatra.
Authorities are urged to assess the feasibility of this proposal promptly. If deemed suitable, the land can be quickly prepared to accommodate the buses, ensuring a more streamlined process for visitors arriving for the yatra. In addition, proper traffic management and public awareness campaigns would be essential to inform and guide the yatries and tourists about the new parking arrangements.
Implementing this temporary parking solution could prove to be a crucial step in addressing the logistical challenges posed by the annual influx of devotees, ensuring a more pleasant and organized experience for all involved in the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
