Jammu, April 03: In a swift and decisive operation, the Jammu Police has cracked the harrowing murder case in Dablehar, R.S Pura, bringing closure to the victim’s family within days of the incident. The case, registered under FIR No. 57/2024, saw accused Ravinder Singh, along with his associates, brutally attack Rakesh Kumar S/O Mela Ram R/o Bhalesar Tehsil RS Pura, District Jammu, resulting in his grievous injuries and subsequent demise at GMC Jammu.
Following the tragic incident, the police, led by SHO R.S Pura Inspector Naveen Angral and BPP Chakroi Sub-inspector Ishfaq Ahmed, under the astute supervision of SDPO R.S Pura Sh. Nikhil Gogna-JKPS, SP headquarters Jammu Sh. Irshad H. Rather-JKPS, and SSP Jammu Dr. Vinod Kumar-IPS, launched a relentless manhunt to apprehend the perpetrators.
Despite the accused fleeing the crime scene, the diligent efforts of the police, spanning multiple districts, led to the arrest of five individuals from Punjab and one from Jammu. The arrested individuals were identified as Bunty Verma, Lakhvinder Singh, Ravinder Singh, Mohinder Singh, Pawandeep Singh, and Sanjeev Sharma. Notably, crucial evidence, including the weapons used in the crime, was recovered from an adjoining location in Samba District.
Investigations revealed an old rivalry that escalated into vengeance, prompting the accused to meticulously plan and execute the murder of Rakesh Kumar. The deceased, previously involved in a case, was acquitted by the court, but the accused harboured a deep-seated belief that he was responsible for the demise of their father, leading to the heinous act.
All accused are currently in police custody, with further investigations underway to ascertain the roles of their accomplices. The apprehension of the perpetrators and the recovery of crucial evidence underscore the commitment of the Jammu Police in ensuring justice for the victims and maintaining law and order in the region.
According to a detailed information provided by Jammu police, a case under FIR No. 57/2024 U/S 307/341/147/148 IPC 4/25 Arms Act was registered at Police Station R.S Pura on 23 March 2024, after receiving information through reliable sources that accused person namely Ravinder Singh S/o Vikram Singh R/o Bhalesar Tehsil Arnia A/P Preet Nagar District Jammu along with his associates has brutally attacked upon Rakesh Kumar S/o Mela Ram R/o Bhalesar Tehsil RS Pura, District Jammu with sharp edge weapons due to which Rakesh Kumar got grievously injured. Offence under section 302 IPC was accordingly added in the case later on.
The Identity of the arrested persons has been revealed as 1. Bunty Verma @ Bunty S/o. Hans Raj Caste Verma R/o Bamboo Chak Tehsil Ramgarh, District Samba 2. Lakhvinder Singh @ Lakha @ Lucky S/o Karnail Singh Caste Jatt Sikh R/o Bamboo Chak Tehsil Ramgarh, District Samba 3. Ravinder Singh @Jatt S/o Lt. Vikram Singh R/o Bhalesar Tehsil Arnia District Jammu A/P Preet Nagar, Gangyal 4. Mohinder Singh S/o Lt. Vikram Singh R/o Bhalesar Tehsil Arnia District Jammu A/P Preet Nagar, Gangyal 5. Pawandeep Singh @ Rubal S/o Jodh Singh R/o Digiana Camp Gangyal, Jammu.
All the five persons were arrested from Punjab, whereas the sixth accused Sanjeev Sharma @ Sanju S/o Mohan Lal R/o Gangyal Trikuta Nagar, was arrested from Jammu. On the disclosure of the key accused, all the weapons used for committing the offence have been recovered from the location in adjoining Samba District.
Rakesh Kumar, previously involved in a criminal case under FIR No. 38/2016 U/S 302/307/341/342 /147/148/149/201 RPC, 4/25 Arms Act and 302 RPC at P/S Arnia, was acquitted by the court. However, the accused brothers, Ravinder and Mohinder Singh, believed he was responsible for their father Bikram Singh’s death, leading to a brutal murder where the victim’s hands were severed, resulting in his death near Divine Light Public School, Dablehar, R.S Pura.
