Jammu Police under SSP Dr Vinod Kumar and SP South Ajay Sharma Strikes Hard Against Drug Peddlers: Nab Inter-State Woman Trafficker

Jammu, March 19: In a resolute crackdown on drug trafficking, the Jammu Police, led by SSP Jammu Dr. Vinod Kumar (IPS), under Clean-up Jammu intensified its Operation Sanjeevani campaign, targeting drug peddlers across the region.
Today marked a significant victory as the South Division police headed by Ajay Sharma (JKPS) apprehended an inter-state drug peddler, identified as Kosur Sotra from New Plot, Jammu, and seized a substantial quantity of Heroin (Chitta) like substance weighing 231 grams.
Under the expert guidance of SP South Ajay Sharma (JKPS), the Jammu Police’s South Division achieved a major breakthrough in its mission to combat drug abuse, codenamed Clean-Up Jammu under Operation Sanjeevani. The arrest of the drug peddler and the seizure of the Heroin (Chitta) like substance underscored the relentless efforts of the police to create a drug-free Jammu.
The operation, spearheaded by Inspector Sudhir Sadhotra, SHO PS Gandhinagar, and supervised by SDPO South Kartik Shrotriya (IPS) and SP South Ajay Sharma (JKPS), culminated in the successful apprehension of the trafficker in the Gandhinagar area. Subsequently, a case under FIR No. 68/2024 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Gandhinagar, initiating further investigation into the matter.
According to sources police has taken the culprit women on eight days police remand adding the women trafficker is a habitual offender and has indulged in such criminal activities earlier too and has been arrested by police a number of times.
Prior to this on March 16, 2024, as part of its ongoing anti-drug initiatives, the Jammu Police conducted raids at various drug hotspots across the Jammu District. The South Police Division, under the leadership of SP South Ajay Sharma, played a pivotal role in these operations.
Led by SP South Ajay Sharma and assisted by SDPO City East and South and ITBP, along with the diligent efforts of SHOs from Bahu Fort, Bagh e Bahu, and Satwari, the police targeted notorious drug dens in Rajeev Nagar and Dhadap areas. During the raids, a significant sum of ninety-five thousand and nine hundred fifty rupees was recovered from the residence of a suspected drug dealer, in the presence of a magistrate.
A total of twenty individuals were detained from Rajeev Nagar and eighteen from Dhadap area on suspicion of involvement in drug-related activities.
The swift and decisive action by the Jammu Police received widespread praise from the public, demonstrating the community’s support for stringent measures against drug peddlers.
The Jammu Police urged all citizens to remain vigilant against the menace of drug trafficking and encouraged them to report any suspicious activities promptly. The identity of informants would be kept confidential, ensuring their safety and security.
This latest operation not only signifies the Jammu Police’s commitment to eradicating drug trafficking but also emphasizes the proactive approach undertaken under the leadership of SSP Jammu Dr. Vinod Kumar (IPS) and the commendable efforts of SP South Ajay Sharma (JKPS) in spearheading the mission to cleanse Jammu of narcotics.
