Jammu, March 11: In a stunning breakthrough, law enforcement agencies in District Jammu cracked a high-profile theft case within a mere 24 hours, culminating in the recovery of stolen items and the apprehension of the prime suspect. The case, registered under FIR No. 28/2024 US 380/454 IPC at Police Post Sarwal Jammu, sent shockwaves through the community after an unidentified individual brazenly pilfered several valuable items: Two Iron Grills, One Water Motor, One Old Fan, Five Packs of Stationery Papers.
The swift and decisive response to this heinous act came in the form of a specially constituted investigative team, operating under the astute guidance SSP Jammu Dr Vinod Kumar and SP City North Shivam Siddharth IPS. Inspector Satvir Singh, and PSI Sarwal, Anil Thapa spearheading the operation, worked diligently under the watchful eye of SDPO City West Zaheer Abaas Zafri to track down the perpetrator and recover the stolen goods.
Utilizing cutting-edge investigative techniques, including the analysis of CCTV footage and the interrogation of numerous suspects, the team zeroed in on a prime suspect: Mukul Matto, son of Magga Mattoo from H.No. 119 Balmiki colony Gandhi Nagar Jammu. Under intense questioning, Matto confessed to his involvement in the crime and provided crucial information leading to the recovery of the stolen property.
However, this revelation was just the tip of the iceberg. Shockingly, it was uncovered that Matto was a repeat offender, with a laundry list of criminal activities to his name. Five FIRs have already been registered against him in various police stations across District Jammu: FIR No. 99/2017 U/S 323/341/382/427 IPC of P/S Gandhi Nagar, FIR No. 311/2022 U/S 323/324/504 IPC of P/S Gandhi Nagar, FIR No. 241/2022 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act of P/S Gandhi Nagar, FIR No. 254/23 U/S 454/380 IPC of P/S Bakshi Nagar, FIR No. 160/2022 U/S 454/380 IPC of P/S Bage-Bahu.
The revelation of Matto’s extensive criminal history has prompted authorities to launch a comprehensive investigation into his potential involvement in other theft cases. It is worth mentioning here that PSI Anil Thapa has joined just two weeks before and has already solved one kidnaping case and one missing case during short span of his duty at the police post Sarwal.
